Revitalise using Exercise with Oxygen Therapy (EWOT)

At Optimum Health Essentials, we have Exercise with Oxygen Therapy (EWOT), a powerful way to increase the energy in your body through improving the availability of oxygen in your system. Oxygen is essential for life and is a key “nutrient” that is often overlooked. Stress, poor breathing habits, and poor absorption of minerals often cause our bodies to experience a relative oxygen debt. We experience this as:

  • Fatigue
  • Brain fog
  • Procrastination
  • Sugar and carb craving
  • Pain and inflammation
  • Low immunity

A 10-15 minute session is all that is needed to make you feel revitalised and to support your body’s healing and detox pathways. A great combination is to do 10-15 minutes of EWOT, 30 minutes in the sauna and then have a cold shower or swim in the ocean.

This combination raises your natural level of glutathione, which is the essential chemical we make for detoxification and healing. The increased oxygen alkalises your body and fires up the battery pack of every cell in your body called “mitochondria”. Todays world of increased toxicity, poor food nutrients and constant stress weakens our mitochondrial energy production.

EWOT works by initially reducing the available oxygen to the equivalent of exercising at around 4000m of altitude (think double the height of Thredbo). In the basic program this lasts for 3 minutes. During this time your blood oxygen saturation falls to around 80%. This causes your body to adapt and create more red blood cells and other chemicals to carry oxygen more efficiently. You then do a 1 minute sprint (on the bike – and “sprint” is relative to your current level of fitness) to increase your heart rate to around 80% of its maximum level. This stimulates your body to adapt further and increases the production of human growth hormone (HGH). HGH essentially keeps you young, heals you faster, supports muscle growth, improves sleep quality and enhances the production of other youthful hormones.

After the sprint you flick the switch to 80% oxygen (normal air is 19%), this creates an “oxygen wash” in which your body draws in all of the oxygen that it needs and with full saturation, will provide oxygen everywhere the body needs it.

This can then be followed with a few more rounds of short sprints on low oxygen followed by a recovery with high oxygen. It’s amazing the lightness you feel and the mental clarity and energy you have after a session.
